Yard Sale Boom
I am happy to report that Saturday’s yard sale was a roaring success.
I rolled out of bed at 7, as I was expecting the tree triming guy at 7:30. He was a no show; I’ll talk more about this in another post.
Anyway…
I made my first sale before the “doors opened”… at 7:58. Sure… it was only $2, but I was pumped up and ready to go.
The BF joined me at about 8:45 with coffee in hand. ![]()
It was interesting to see who bought what… and I was a bit suprised at the number of people that tried to bargin (just a couple).
It was nice to meet some of my neighbors. In fact, my neighbor across the street came over to chat for about 30 minutes. She lives alone with a couple of dogs… early/mid-50s… a sweet lady.
Although I had posted a couple of signs for an 8-2 sale, I decided to wrap it up at 1, as the customers were becoming more infrequent and my stock was running low.
As the doors closed, I was rid of a lot of unnecessary stuff junk… I socialized with people… and I had an extra $189 in my pocket. ![]()
Saturday Morning Cartoons
As a kid of the 70s/80s, Saturday morning cartoons were a staple in our house.
Rolling out of bed at noon, after a handful of bloody marys from last night, I feel the need to regress. Still… do cartoons still exist on
Saturday morning? With SO many channels, can kids now just flip over to one of the Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network/Babysitter-in-a-Box channels?
Well, today is a “Challenge of the Superfriends” day here.
I have plopped in a DVD to watch the team from the Hall of Justice battle the villians of the Legion of Doom. I’m still in my PJs at 1:15… life is good.
F.R.O.G.S. and Naked Men
The BF and I visited F.R.O.G.S. Cantina in Midtown on Saturday after spending a relaxing day in Piedmont Park.
I had never been to this restaurant/bar, but after witnessing the ineptitude of the sandwich-making queen at Jersey Mike’s, I was compelled to forge for something else.
Although the menu was limited, both the chimichanga (my choice) and the jerk chicken sandwich were great.
On a trip to the restroom, I found a poster for the Atlanta Rugby Football Club. Who knew that Atlanta has a gay rugby team?
Well, it turns out that some members of the rugby team were having some drinks on the patio, and midway through our meal I was treated to an eyeful when two of the rugby players came running past our table dripping wet and NAKED.
I am assuming that this was the result of some alcohol-induced game from the patio.
I think I will sit on the patio next time.

The Tofu Bowl Test

I took the BF out for a tofu bowl yesterday at Cho Dang Tofu House. My favorite is the dumpling tofu (shown above). ![]()
I am happy to report that he is willing to try new foods. He ate it up… including the fried fish with the head on. Even that is one that I am not too keen on. I just don’t like my food staring back at me. Still, I took a bite of his, and it was quite nice.
After that, we visited the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market. I had not been here in almost two years. I am happy to report they have really cleaned this place up and expanded their selection of exotic foods. Hell, they even had whole calf’s head (frozen)… teeth and all. ![]()
With seasame seed paste, curry paste, a red onion and English tea bags (for the BF) in tow, we headed back home.
Draining and the Drive-In
I had a great day yesterday. I am happy to report that there was little to no drama between me and the BF.
We ran a few errands at Lowes (tarp for the pond), Dollar Tree (car washing supplies) and K-Mart (soda).
It felt like a flashback to simpler times in K-Mart. The store was not a crowded as Target or Wal-Mart (yes, I still visit Wal-Mart… bad Kevin). It felt a bit dirty and untidy… and there were the ads from the K-Mart Radio Network telling shoppers of must-have products. The experience reminded me of perusing the aisles of K-Mart in Hazard… only the country folk were replaced with other minorities.
After errands it was on to draining the pond… bucket by bucket of nasty stagnant water. Then there were the two dead goldfish that I assumed had turned to mush from my lack of attention to the leaf-filled cesspool.
Next… a bit a of a nap and then off to Starlight Drive-In for the new Friday the 13th flick.
This was my third time to visit a drive-ins and my first time to the Starlight. We arrived about an hour early, as we expected a crowd to see the movie. After all, it was a beautiful day and Friday the 13th, the ultimate type of movie to see at a drive-in. It turns out there were only about six cars there before us, so there was no need to arrive so early. However… this was the movies third or fourth week and eventually… the lot did fill up.
The second half of the double feature was Taken, but we chose to skip this one and half a couple of beers at the Three-Legged Cowboy.
All-in-all… it was good to have a day of [limited] drama.
